Proprietary Product Engineer / Product Design Engineer

The Proprietary Product Engineer will provide expert level experience in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) proprietary product design and its incorporation and implementation within computing platforms, mobile platforms, networks, networking peripherals, as well as network and enterprise architectures.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this role, you should have the following background, credentials, and knowledge:

  • Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Information Security, Computer Security, and/or Network Administration from an accredited university/college
  •  Minimum/General Experience: Recent work experience as a subject matter expert on a major program, project, or activity.  A minimum of 10 years recent experience in the direct performance of a major program, project, or activity relating to reverse engineering of hardware and software platforms. In addition, must demonstrate practical experience related to the following areas:
  • Software reverse engineering – Experience using IDA Pro to determine how an application works and processes data.  This could include x86, ARM, ARM64 etc.  IDA Python experience.
  • Exploitation – Experience identifying and exploiting zero days and n-days including memory corruption bugs to include stack overflows, heap overflows, integer overflows, and logical flaws.  Experience with mitigation (ASLR, Stack cookies, non-executable memory) to deter exploitation and how can they be bypassed.
  • File format reverse engineering – Experience determining how files are structured, understanding the standard methods for encoding data from Base64 to ASN1.
  • Encryption - A good understanding and knowledge of how symmetrical and asymmetrical encryption works, certificate chain of trust, and crypto weaknesses.
  • Protocols - Knowledge of how IP/Serial based protocols work and how to reverse their format including checksums, MACs, encoding formats, HTTP, and XML.
  • Fuzzing - Experience of writing and running fuzzers, understanding of the differences between dumb and more intelligent fuzzers, and how Reverse Engineering feeds the process.
  • Coding - The ability to quickly write programs to accomplish point solutions in languages like Python, C, C++, C#, and PHP.
  • Code Review - The ability to review C/C++ source code for vulnerabilities.
  • Operating Systems Architecture - Knowledge of how operating systems work from a user level through to the kernel.
